Investigation of the neuroprotective properties of steroid hormones such as progesterone or testosterone or vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in various areas of the nervous system (CNS, PNS, ENS), which can help with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or ALS as well as cerebral events such as stroke or reduced perfusion.
The use of high-resolution imaging techniques (confocal laser scanning microscopy, transmission electron microscopy) in combination with biochemical and molecular biological analyses enables a broad approach.
